Internship Opportunities

Jr. Event Planning Interns

 Swish is currently seeking applicants for two (2) Jr Event Planning Internships for a commitment of 4 months (March – June) to help us produce two major spring events = the annual Songs in the Key of Equality benefit concert (May 19) NYC Pride (June 29). This intern will assist in planning and executing the goals for NYC Pride events throughout the month of June.

 

The Jr Event Planning Intern will work as a team and with senior volunteers.  The interns are are accountable for:

 

●     assisting with all planning and implementation of events, including creating and managing timelines, motivating and staffing volunteer committees, creating marketing and PR plans, marketing, managing collateral design, on-site run-of-show and logistics, phone calls to donors, and other tasks as determined necessary for successful execution

●     coordinating of entertainment, photograph and videography

●     working with creative agency to design and order marketing collateral (necklaces, stickers, postcards, posters, event programs, etc.)

●     cultivating relationships and executing contracts with vendors

●     coordinating Pride after party

●     partnering with Board of Directors and Committee Co-Chairs to recruit volunteers for planning committees and staffing committee meetings

●     all other administrative duties for events

 

Ideal applicants will have experience in community organizing, event planning and management, fundraising, cultivating vendor and donor relationships, and excellent communications and marketing skills.

 

They should also possess the following characteristics: organized, excellent written and oral communication skills, sense of humor, passion, creativity, joy, teamwork, leadership and are self-directed. And most importantly, ideal candidates want to make a difference in the LGBT rights movement using their skills and talents!!

 

These 40 hour per month positions are unpaid, however the interns will be reimbursed for travel to and from event venues, as well as meals. These internships provide abundant networking opportunities within the LGBT and non-profit communities. Course credit is also negotiable, as well and telecommuting. These are ideal for juniors, seniors, recent grads, or grad students who are pursuing careers in event planning, public relations, marketing, fundraising or communications.

Jr. Digital Marketing Intern

 Swish is currently seeking applicants for a Jr Digital Marketing Internship with a minimum commitment of 4 months (March – June) to help us reach and realize the goals of our strategic plan and expand, nurture and acknowledge its membership through organizational communications and social media.

 

The Jr. Digital Communications Intern is accountable for:

 

●     managing YouTube video-based social media channels

●     creating new and organizing archival digital and offline content to tell the Swish story

●     managing daily and weekly posting of photos and video to social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram), including the #SwishMemories #tbt campaign, and marketing for the annual Songs in the Key of Equality Benefit (May 19) and NYC Pride (June 29)

●     creating and implementing all e-communications to Swish’s distribution list of members

●     editing short marketing videos

●     managing video and photography for all organizational events, includes recruiting pro bono services, archiving and posting media during and post-events

●     using graphic design expertise to create marketing collateral for events and campaigns, in partnership with our creative agency of record

●     maintaining monthly social media and communications metrics dashboard to measure marketing impact and ROI

 

Ideal applicants will have experience in digital photography; video production, editing (Final Cut Pro/ Avid/ iMovie or experience with other editing software preferred); graphic design; social and conventional marketing; and archiving.

 Jr. Pride Street Team Coordinator

 Swish is currently seeking applicants for a Jr. Pride Street Team Coordinator with a minimum commitment of 2 months (May and June) to help execute Swish’s participation in the NYC Pride March (June 29).

 

The Jr. Pride Street Team Coordinator is accountable for:

 

●     developing job description and managing posts to recruit volunteers

●     recruiting and managing 10-15 volunteers for the Pride Street Team

●     conducting weekly meetings of Street Team leading up to event

●     identifying pre-Pride in-person marketing opportunities

●     coordinating the attendance of Street Team to distribute marketing materials at pre-Pride events throughout the 5 boroughs leading up to the Pride March working with Pride Co-Chairs and Jr. Event Planning Intern for Pride to determine staffing and logistical needs for day of Pride March

●     ensuring that Street Team is engaged and active with crowd at Pride March to distribute all marketing materials and collateral

●     represent team at all Pride planning calls and meetings
